Importance of Billiard Table Maintenance

Cue sports or otherwise known as billiards is becoming a popular game in various parts of the globe. Despite its three major subdivisions, namely carom billiards, pool, and snooker, the equipment being used in this athletic field are more or less the same. Hence, respective tables and cue sticks are quite similar in size and colour. Also similar are the materials being used for the table surface.

Avoid using a straw broom, as this can snag the felt, a compressed matted animal fibre intended for these tables. When not in use, it will be wise to cover it with a cloth or sheet, preventing dust from collecting. In case of spills, to keep liquid from spreading, blot it up with a lint-free cloth. If stain is present mix one cup of cold water and a tablespoon of vinegar and gently scrub the affected spot using this formula. If the stain remains after twenty-four hours, you can repeat the process. Just avoid using a vacuum cleaner on your pool table, as you may rip the felt or the leather netting.
